Referencing some of the greatest saints, and the very popular TV series ‘The Chosen’, this is an article brimming with insight and thought. - [S04 Ep18 - ‘Rejoice’- Advent Episode 3](https://www.virtueministry.org.au/s04-ep18-rejoice-advent-episode-3/) - Part 3 of our Advent series has us talking about joy and rejoicing from Philippians 4:4. This episode provides aspects and angles to better grasp how we may help others in our family and community with the loss of someone they may love. - [BLOG PART 3: The Lessons I Learnt from My Wedding Day – Continued!](https://www.virtueministry.org.au/blog-part-3-the-lessons-i-learnt-from-my-wedding-day-continued/) - Reaching part three of this series by Grace Morey, she finishes off with the three final lessons she learnt from her unconventional COVID wedding, including giving, God's provision and the learning of virtues that underpin her marriage now. - [S03 E06 - Easter Episode: Living Witness to the Resurrection](https://www.virtueministry.org.au/s03-e06-easter-episode-living-witness-to-the-resurrection/) - In our Easter episode we chat about being witnesses to the Resurrection through hope, and how to overcome that when life brings us challenges. - [S03 E14 - Book Study Part 3 - How Can We Know that an Inspiration Comes From God?](https://www.virtueministry.org.au/e03-e14-book-study-part-3-how-can-we-know-that-an-inspiration-comes-from-god/) - We are sharing part three of our book study unpacking Jacques Philippe's book 'In the School of the Holy Spirit'. Of course! Love requires risk. But two mature people are able to have the above conversations with courage, knowing that those conversations will actually preserve the possibility of friendship, even if that friendship looks different from what it has been. I think we need to change our conversation in this area. We often hear it said: What if our romance ruins our friendship. Romance done well, with maturity and love guiding our actions and emotions, may change a friendship, but it won’t ruin it. - [S03 E05 - Why 'Good' Friday?](https://www.virtueministry.org.au/s03e05-why-good-friday/) - Holy week is around the corner, and our co-hosts are having a chat about Good Friday - the Agony in the Garden, and why do we call it 'Good' Friday? - [S03 E07 - Friends Centred on Christ See Things Differently](https://www.virtueministry.org.au/friends-centred-on-christ-see-things-differently/) - Stina and Padre sit down to discuss why they weren't so excited to be living in the same place, when everyone expected otherwise. Who’s to say forgiveness should always be given or even can be given? Can you forgive someone who doesn’t even want to be forgiven?” People with merely good intentions want what’s best for people and then decide what that is. Online dating Part 2](https://www.virtueministry.org.au/ep-3-online-dating-part-2/) - Be the same person online as you are offline, remembering these are real people with a real human heart and they deserve to be treated with respect. A lot of questions come from, how do I deal with ‘this particular’ thing in the online space, and isn’t it weird if I do that. Well what would you do in the real world, the offline world, and the person was someone you were pursuing a distant relationship with. Treat the situation like that. If it means having a difficult conversation, so be it, so long as you’re being congruent, being the same person online and offline. - [S2 Ep1 - Why do we have a desire for God?](https://www.virtueministry.org.au/why-do-we-have-a-desire-for-god/) - Compendium answer: 'God himself, in creating man in his own image, has written upon his heart the desire to see him. Even if this desire is often ignored, God never ceases to draw man to himself because only in God will he find and live the fullness of truth and happiness for which he never stops searching. By nature and by vocation, therefore, man is a religious being, capable of entering into communion with God. This intimate and vital bond with God confers on man his fundamental dignity.' - [S2 Ep2 - Online Dating](https://www.virtueministry.org.au/online-dating/) - We did a live stream earlier today, if you missed it check out our page, join any tier to access the live stream, where we talked a bit about the break, padre shared about settling into Narrandera, and Stina about Virtue Ministry plans moving forward, and we talked about what’s coming in this season of Living Fullness. This is a Patrons Choice Episode. Is there a place for online dating? - Yes, so long as it’s used as a platform to meet people and not a platform to grow in depth of relationship. - [8. Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven](https://www.virtueministry.org.au/8-blessed-are-those-who-are-persecuted-for-righteousness-sake-for-theirs-is-the-kingdom-of-heaven/) - The cross is the way to heaven. Standing for your conviction and for the one you love, God, when God is not who the world generally loves, that will cause all kinds of friction. The beatitudes see heaven as our end goal, the world can’t see past death. To the world, this makes no sense. Suffering makes no sense. Persecution is to be avoided at all cost and not embraced for love of God. - [7. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God](https://www.virtueministry.org.au/blessed-are-the-peacemakers-for-they-shall-be-called-children-of-god/) - What is a peacemaker? - It is not just an absence of war - It's linked to justice - peacemakers have to be rooted in justice -what is owed to another person, and to God. Jesus is the perfect peacemaker, because he came to offer his life and death as a sacrifice to make right what was wronged against God, and to heal our relationship with one another. The prince of peace. - [6. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God  ](https://www.virtueministry.org.au/6-blessed-are-the-pure-in-heart-for-they-shall-see-god/) - We're culturally quick to assume this beatitude speaks only about sexual purity. We live in a highly sexualised world - AND we have a Christian world that has hyper focused on ‘what not to do’ with our bodies, and has forgotten ‘what to do, to tend to our hearts’. - [5. Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy ](https://www.virtueministry.org.au/5-blessed-are-the-merciful-for-they-shall-obtain-mercy/) - Our Christian faith hinges on Mercy. God didn’t give us what we deserve, he gifts us mercy. Do we give others better than they deserve? or do we look to get even? to act from a place of self-entitlement? If there is anything we should be known for, it’s people who are merciful, because we follow the model set before us in Christ, our merciful saviour. - [4. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness for they shall be filled](https://www.virtueministry.org.au/4-blessed-are-those-who-hunger-and-thirst-for-righteousness-for-they-shall-be-filled/) - Do we notice what someone is owed and hunger for them to receive that? These include all the major fights for justice we know about - fighting for life, and for freedom, against enslavement of all kinds in countries where it’s obvious the vulnerable are held to work and do things against their will, and in the western world, the vulnerable secretly held trapped in certain life styles resulting from human trafficking - [3. Blessed are the Meek for they shall inherit the earth](https://www.virtueministry.org.au/3-blessed-are-the-meek-for-they-shall-inherit-the-earth/) - As with most things with God, those unattached to earthly power are the same ones who are promised they shall inherit the earth. This makes intuitive sense when we look at gifting someone something that is beautiful and to be cared for. We wouldn’t want to give it to the person who is going to wield their power over it and push it to destruction, but instead gift it to the one who is disinterested in having power over it, and instead is meek enough to accept the gift and to want to care for it. - [2. Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted](https://www.virtueministry.org.au/podcast-notes-coming-soon/) - There is no goodness to be found in crying in and of itself. It’s when we cry (as a response to compassion) for something or for someone that it takes on meaning. - [Wallpapers](https://www.virtueministry.org.au/wallpapers/) - Click to open then screenshot your Wallpaper - [The Beatitude Series - 1. Blessed are the Poor in Spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven](https://www.virtueministry.org.au/the-beatitude-series-1-blessed-are-the-poor-in-spirit-for-theirs-is-the-kingdom-of-heaven/) - There are different forms of poverty, and economic poverty is only one of themA path to living abundance not only in Heaven but also on EarthHow the beatitudes bring the 10 commandments to fulfilmentA Link between this beatitude and the 1st Commandment - I Am the Lord your God, you shall have no other strange god's before me. - [SFMO - Sadness From Missing Out this Valentines day](https://www.virtueministry.org.au/sfmo-sadness-from-missing-out-this-valentines-day/) - Sadness from missing out on Valentines day. Is blockin happy couples really self-care? Here is what that says, and some alternatives. - [Virtue Challenge 101](https://www.virtueministry.org.au/virtue-challenge-101/) - For those who have heard our talks, been part of our workshops or found a desire by other means to better themselves for and out of love by embracing virtue in becoming all that you were made to be… At last we give you… a Virtue Challenge 101 The Virtue Challenge is a set of - [‘Work harder!’ But I’m worn out…](https://www.virtueministry.org.au/work-harder-but-im-worn-out/) - How exhausting. Hard work is a necessary part of life. How many times have we been counselled to work hard in order to achieve our goals? To just push on, give more, put more effort in, sounds like a recipe for being ‘Worn Out’ maybe even ‘Burnt Out’. It certainly does take a concerted effort - [Do small things with great love](https://www.virtueministry.org.au/do-small-things-with-great-love/) - Do Small Things With Great Love Hanging out the washing has always been a job I’ve had a distaste for. I don’t know why, it’s really not that hard. When I was 12, I created a game to make me finish it quicker. I pretended I was on a game show where the quickest - [The genesis of Virtue Ministry](https://www.virtueministry.org.au/the-genesis-of-virtue-ministry/) - The Genesis of VM As time goes on, so many of the pieces come together. It might be 3 years since our launch, but it’s only in retrospect that I can see just how long God has been working in my heart and in my life to bring VM here. For the sake of keeping - [A Christmas reflection...](https://www.virtueministry.org.au/a-christmas-reflection/) - A Christmas Reflection... The end of a decade and here we are… Christmas is around the corner and there are 2 things I would like to bring to mind in this last blog post for 2019. Gratitude for the year Having been blessed to be granted with some team time in the last few weeks, - [What is Virtue?](https://www.virtueministry.org.au/what-is-virtue/) - One of the important questions we must be able to answer for ourselves at Virtue Ministry is, “What is virtue?” The answer was something I wasn’t so sure of when starting out a year ago. The definition in my mind was quite ambiguous. Virtue was “something good”. It was a characteristic of noble heroes and - [More than managing COVID-19](https://www.virtueministry.org.au/more-than-managing-covid-19/) - More than managing the COVID-19 Climate By now you’ve heard it all. From conspiracy theories of germ warfare to the bizarre situation of a lack of toilet paper. From tightening up our hand washing and sneezing habits to precautions of social distancing, to panic shoppers and attitudes of ‘it’s just another flu’. What we probably - [A Mini-Retreat and Reboot](https://www.virtueministry.org.au/a-mini-retreat-and-reboot/) - This is a retreat we put together a couple of years ago, it has been used over and over on many occasions. It's an opportunity for personal reflection and to reboot our lives. We’re all getting used to living a busy kind of lifestyle with back to back appointments, opportunities, events and activities, especially in - [Emily likens Hope to a bird](https://www.virtueministry.org.au/emily-likens-hope-to-a-bird/) - This poem is one of the most famous pieces of work by Emily Dickinson. Emily was an American woman whose creative talents weren’t revealed to the world until after her death. Her words are so reflective and honest about her experience of Hope that they might be just what people need to hear right now - [Where Joy comes from](https://www.virtueministry.org.au/where-joy-comes-from/) - Where all this Joy is coming from Why all this joy? Is she just trying to be funny? Actually, no. Since the pandemic I've watched and talked to people I care about, people I admire across the globe all take a hit in one way or another. I saw the pain in their eyes and - [Charity, where did she go?](https://www.virtueministry.org.au/charity-where-did-she-go/) - We have such heated debates on ethical and moral topics. Everything on life and death, gender and sexuality, lifestyle and marriage. Regardless of where we stand on any of these, the way we approach a conversation about them, also speaks volumes. Distasteful approaches often leave me wondering if we have forgotten the basics. On - [Stillness](https://www.virtueministry.org.au/stillness/) - Stillness A regular dose of silence and quietness is necessary for peace of mind. At least that’s what all the self-care and mindfulness material out there will say. But actually attaining a practice of stillness is no easy feat.
