One of the benefits of being part of the Virtue Ministry team is…you guessed it, ongoing
formation in faith, virtues and more besides.
On Monday July 14, 2025 the VM Team undertook a training day. This was an excellent
opportunity to meet some new team members, welcome to Podcast Editor Czyrine Joy Lacro
and Presenter and Facilitator Samuel Heffer, catch up with current team members including
Grace Feltoe who is currently based in Portugal, and listen to some fabulous presentations
on virtue.
These sessions included: Dr Matthew Tan, Dean of Studies at Vianney College, who
presented on the Theological virtues; Stina Constantine, Founder and Managing Director of
Virtue Ministry, who presented on the Moral Virtues and; Father Sean Byrnes, Parish Priest
of Holy Spirit Lavington and Diocesan Vocations Director, who presented on Theology of the
Body and Virtue.
And while we’re all re-reading our notes, and getting physio for our writer’s cramps from said
notes, here are some excellent resources for you to re-visit your own formation in the virtues.
READ
The Art of Living by Dr Edward Sri – Father Reece Beltrame was the one who got me
onto this book. We had the additional pleasure of having him present reflections on this
content to the Saint Monica’s Mothers Group at the time. This is an excellent resource by the
prolific and yet easily readable academic Dr Sri. As a starting point on understanding the
virtues or just a re-presentation of them, this book is excellent and suitable for highschoolers
up.

various aspects of life and faith. From personal growth to spiritual development, diligence

In this episode, Stina and Padre delve into the virtue of justice, exploring its various
dimensions and relevance in contemporary society. They emphasize justice as more than
just adherence to legal codes but as a moral imperative rooted in gratitude and reverence for
a higher power, and we touch on the often-overlooked virtue of religion, the importance of
just speech, and the harmony between justice and mercy. Through personal anecdotes and
reflections, they illustrate practical ways to cultivate justice in daily life, steering one’s will
towards virtuous actions and ultimately becoming a just person.
S05 Ep18 – Virtue of Temperance – Beyond Food, Drink, and Sex
In this episode, we dive deep into the virtue of temperance, one of the cardinal virtues
alongside prudence, fortitude, and justice. Stina and Padre explore how temperance extends
beyond merely saying no to excesses in food, drink, and sexual pleasure. Instead, they
present temperance as a guiding force that enables us to balance our desires, celebrate life
well, and choose greater goods over immediate pleasures. They also address common
misconceptions, such as the restrictive views propagated by purity culture, and highlight how
temperance can lead to a fuller, more meaningful life.
