In this episode, Stina and Padre unpack the link between trust, surrender, and true inner peace. They explore how fear and self-reliance keep us restless and why true peace comes from trusting God’s providence—even when it means letting go of control. With reflections on abandonment and personal stories, they reveal how surrendering to God is the path to finding lasting peace.

1. The Root of Fear and Worry

Stina discusses how our fears often stem from relying on our own strength or that of others rather than on God. She highlights Jesus’ words in Scripture: “Be not afraid,” which remind us that peace comes from letting go of worry and relying on God’s provision.

2. Self-Reliance vs. Trust in Providence

Padre shares the story of the rich fool, who lost peace by clinging to his wealth instead of relying on God. Rather than discouraging industriousness, Jacques Philippe encourages us to place our efforts in God’s service, with trust that He will meet our needs.

3. Abandonment as a Path to Peace

Stina and Padre reflect on Jacques’ call for abandonment – a surrender of our own plans to God’s wisdom. They emphasize that true peace is rooted in detachment from our own limited understanding and embracing God’s purpose, even when it challenges us.

4. Finding Oneself Through Abandonment

Padre shares the importance of trust, especially for those recovering from addiction or harmful behaviors. Abandoning unhealthy attachments is part of the journey toward true identity and peace in Christ, as we learn to rely on God’s love rather than our own efforts.

1. What areas of your life are most affected by fear or worry? How might releasing control in these areas lead to peace?

2. In what ways do you rely on self-reliance instead of God’s providence?

3. Reflect on an experience where you truly let go and relied on God. How did it shape your faith?

4. How does the idea of finding yourself in abandonment to God challenge or encourage you?

Practical Suggestions for Growth:

1. Practice Daily Abandonment

Begin each day by surrendering your worries and plans to God. Ask for the grace to trust that He will provide for your needs.

2. Pray Psalm 23 for Trust

Meditate on Psalm 23 regularly, focusing on God as your shepherd who cares for you, even in difficult times. Let it remind you of God’s faithfulness.

3. Look for God’s Presence in the Present

When tempted to wish life were different, pause and ask, “Where is God in this moment?” Embrace the present with trust, knowing that God is with you here and now.
